Last week, Danny and I previewed what we thought the Rays would do leading up to the August 31st trade deadline, and how what other teams were doing would affect the Rays.
In what seemed like a day in which the Rays were poised to make a big move, Darby, Danny, and myself hopped on Zoom to discuss and record this episode through the 4:00pm EST deadline.
Among players in whom the Rays are showing interest, according to sources: Tigers left-hander Daniel Norris…and, ahem, Rangers right fielder Joey Gallo. Padres also have shown interest in Gallo, along with seemingly every other available player with a heartbeat!

As the clock struck 4, and no deals were announced, we waited even longer for the infamous post-4:00 trade announcement, hoping that the Rays did something to try to bolster their roster, or at least join in on the fun that the Padres and Blue Jays seemed to be having.
At the end of the day, I think the Rays roster is more than capable of competing for the World Series this year, and any trades that could have been made would have only improved the roster marginally.
With that being said, we’ll be hoping for health and good fortune throughout the final month of the regular season.
For the #Rays, getting Morton, Yarbrough, Anderson and Drake healthy will be the acquisitions.
