Rays Your Voice: Pitch Design, with Brian Menendez

Joining me on this week’s episode of Rays Your Voice is Brian Menendez, one of the pitching experts on the site. If you haven’t noticed, the goal of this podcast is to bring on guests more knowledgeable than me to make the show better. This week I learned about a number of things such as spin rate, spin efficiency, and pitch tunneling. I’ve been bombarded with these terms over the past few years and although I have a general understanding of what they mean, I needed Brian to break it down for me in the simplest of terms. I hope you learn something as well.

We also run through the news of the week, which included injuries to Ji-Man Choi and Brett Phillips, the latter of whom seems to be headed for an IL stint at the start of the regular season. At the end of the episode, Brian and I make some predictions on who will be the most important pieces on this Rays team in 2021.
