November 25th in Rays History!

Nathan Karns turns 28 today

Nick Turchiaro-USA TODAY Sports

On this date in Tampa Bay Rays history, starting pitcher, Nathan Karns is born in 1987.

The Rays acquired Karns back during the 2013-2014 off-season, just prior to the start of spring training. Karns would spend almost all of 2014 with the Durham Bulls before receiving a couple of major league outings in late September, including this beauty.

In 2015, Karns was able to stick in the Rays starting rotation throughout the season (after pretty much being given a starting spot due to injuries) and posted a record of 7-5, while maintaining a 3.67 ERA and a 4.09 FIP. Karns provided one of those wins pretty much single-handely as he took the victory in a game where he provided the lone run as he became just the second pitcher in franchise history to hit a home run.

Following the season, Karns would be the main piece sent to the Seattle Mariners in a six player trade.
